Owens & Minor

Designed and launched Owens & Minor University's customer-facing LMS, attracting 46,000+ users across 350+ hospitals and generating $4.6M in net revenue in the first year.

01

Challenge

Owens & Minor faced scrutiny over a $2.5 million budget allocated for a corporate university. To justify the investment, the challenge was to transform the corporate university into a revenue-generating platform by offering customer-facing education.

02

Action

To address this challenge, I led the design and implementation of a new customer-facing website and learning management system (LMS) for Owens & Minor University. Key actions included:

  • User Personas and Wireframes: Developed detailed user personas to understand the target audience and their needs. Created wireframes to outline the structure and functionality of the new LMS, ensuring it was user-friendly and effective.
  • Supporting Collateral: Designed and produced supporting collateral, including educational materials and resources that would be used within the LMS to enhance the learning experience.
  • Marketing Campaign: Launched a comprehensive marketing campaign to promote the new LMS to potential customers. This campaign highlighted the benefits of the platform and its educational offerings to drive user adoption and engagement.
03

Results

The launch of the customer-facing LMS led to significant success and exceeded revenue expectations:

  • User Adoption: Attracted over 46,000 users across more than 350 hospitals, demonstrating the widespread appeal and utility of the LMS.
  • Revenue Generation: Generated $4.6 million in net revenue in the first year, far surpassing the initial budget and establishing the LMS as a valuable revenue stream.
  • Educational Impact: Provided high-quality education to healthcare professionals, enhancing their skills and knowledge, and improving hospital operations and patient care.
