Kapitus

Developed and deployed the Kapitus PPP Portal in under a week, processing thousands of PPP applications and offering essential support to small businesses during COVID-19.

01

Challenge

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Kapitus needed to quickly develop and deploy a Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) portal to support small businesses in securing essential funding. The challenge was to create a scalable solution that could handle thousands of applications and accommodate various partner requirements within a very short timeframe.

02

Action

To address this urgent need, I took on the role of lead developer and executed a comprehensive plan to develop and deploy the PPP portal. Key actions included:

  • Landing Page Development: Created a user-friendly landing page to inform potential applicants about the PPP and guide them through the application process. The landing page was designed to be accessible and intuitive, ensuring a seamless user experience.
  • Application Form Creation: Developed a robust application form to capture all necessary information from applicants. The form included fields for business details, financial information, and contact details, ensuring comprehensive data collection.
  • Partner Routing Logic:Implemented sophisticated logic to route applications to partners based on their preferences:
    • API Integration: For partners preferring API-based integration, I developed and implemented APIs to automatically send application data in real time.
    • PDF Pre-Fill: For partners requiring pre-filled PDF applications, I created functionality to generate and send these PDFs automatically upon application submission.
    • System Access: For partners preferring to work leads directly within our system, I provided secure login access and the necessary interfaces to manage and process leads.
  • Scalable Infrastructure: Ensured the portal was built on a scalable infrastructure capable of handling high volumes of traffic and application submissions without performance degradation.
  • Rapid Development and Deployment: Developed the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) in under a week, enabling us to start processing applications immediately. Full support for all partners was achieved in under a month, ensuring timely assistance to businesses in need.

Results

The implementation of the PPP portal delivered significant results, demonstrating agility and effectiveness in response to the pandemic:

  • Rapid MVP Deployment: The working MVP was developed and deployed in under a week, allowing Kapitus to start processing PPP applications almost immediately.
  • High Volume Processing: Successfully processed thousands of applications, providing essential financial support to small businesses during the pandemic.
  • Flexible Partner Support: Fully supported all partners within a month, accommodating various integration preferences (API, PDF pre-fill, system access). This flexibility ensured that all partners could efficiently process leads according to their workflows.
  • Seamless User Experience: The user-friendly landing page and application form facilitated a smooth application process, resulting in high user satisfaction and minimal dropoff rates.
  • Operational Efficiency: The automated routing and processing logic minimized manual intervention, reducing processing time and operational overhead.
